Portugal – Fight The Menhir

Finally, the sea again! You don’t have to go in. I like just watching it from afar, where I can dream so nicely. Of warmth… French red wine, the savoir vivre… wildebeest hunts…

Our pool. It was quite a long hike to get here. Doesn’t bother me, but Schnuffel with his rather short little legs eventually had enough. Where we agreed again: just chilling around. He’d jump in the water to cool off now and then, and after a while, he retreated to the shade and started snoring. I joined in. It was a wonderful day.
Schnuffel here: Leo with one of his brilliant ideas again. Watched too much Asterix and thought: ’I’ll knock over a menhir. I’m strong, right?’ See how I’m sitting there stunned? Didn’t know if I should roll on the floor laughing or just keep staring in amazement. Then I changed my mind and gave Leo (just a teeny tiny bit) a hard time: we could try it from the other side together. Surprisingly, it didn’t work. But to still celebrate a victory over the stone, we just conquered it.

Early in the morning. Our can openers really wanted to go out at ungodly hours in the half-dark. The road was crap, the jolting didn’t let us sleep at all… we were a bit grumpy when we got there, but the view blew us away, and the tiredness was gone. Plus, the steep slope behind us filled us with respect. It went down deep. Very deep. I mean, really deep. We were glad to get away from there.

Down at the bottom. Did I mention I hate water? Some splashes got on my fur! And Schnuffel just had to splash around, telling me to stop being such a wimp. After all, I’m related to jaguars, and they swim too. Okay, fine, it was kind of fun (especially the seagull hunts), but he doesn’t need to know that. He helped me get the wet stuff out of my fur afterward. Cat-washing with saltwater is even worse than regular water.

To finish off, we did some sightseeing in Lagos. Schnuffel made friends with some stray dogs, and they all went out as a gang to stroll through the city. I met up with cat buddies at the harbor. They know where the best fish is. It was a very relaxed last day! We went to bed stuffed and happy.
