My Trip into the World of AI

So folks, Schnuffel and I finally decided to dive into the mysterious world of artificial intelligence. You’ve got to stay up to date, right? We think we’re too old for this kind of stuff. Although, it’s usually not about being too old, but just too lazy for this nonsense… But after a glass of French red wine (or was it two?) and with the constant rain outside, we figured we might as well give it a try.

So here we go.

A little tipsy, we fired up one of those AI thingamajigs… bots or whatever they’re called. You can actually chat about anything with this thing, and after some initial skepticism, the “conversation” about wildebeests and baguettes really took off. I once read that motivation usually kicks in after you get started. That’s true. Unfortunately, you can’t really have a good argument with the AI; we tried. In the end, we were a bit torn about whether we thought it was super cool or just kind of creepy. The AI was leaning towards super cool. Alright then. We figured we should try out the AI image creation feature. Being as silly as we were (yeah, it was definitely more than two glasses of wine…), Schnuffel suggested that the AI should create a self-portrait of me. We thought we’d have a good laugh at the silly picture afterward.

Well… here’s what came out of it:

A self-portrait of Leo in comic style.

We were rolling on the floor laughing when the picture popped up, and we just couldn’t stop. We totally didn’t see that coming.

Feeling brave, it was time for Step Two: create a similar picture of Schnuffel. No chance. It turned out to be a total mess. What a bummer. You know the saying: the problem sits in front of the screen. Somewhere, we made a mistake, but we just couldn’t figure out what it was.

Conclusion: the AI adventure was a good experience. But it seems you really have to engage with it regularly, and that takes time. Time that we’d rather spend on other things.

Conclusion 2, after the hangover was gone in the morning: I actually think my AI portrait is great now! With that slightly cheeky smile. I love it! And someday, when I’m really bored, I’ll secretly sit down and try again to create a nice AI picture of Schnuffel. He deserves it as my best dog buddy.

But first, it’s time to check the fridge. My humans went shopping. Their own fault.
